The Office of Personnel Management manages the Presidential Management Fellows program and the annual selection process for program candidates. Bearing the presidential moniker, the program is an entry-level flagship leadership development program for advanced degree candidates. The program is designed to attract and select the best possible candidates with the goal of developing a cadre of potential government leaders. It provides resources and assistance to program participants during their first years of employment and encourages individuals to become effective leaders. The program creates a lasting bond, as well as a spirit of public service, ultimately encouraging and leading to a career in the government.
Graduate students from any academic discipline who are expected to complete an advanced degree (master's, law, or doctoral degree) from a qualifying college or university by Aug. 31 of the current academic year are eligible to apply to the program.
