ICE HSI nabs Puerto Rican drug lord wanted in Florida for drug trafficking

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (ICE) special agents working jointly with Puerto Rico Police Department's (PRPD) Air and Marine Unit arrested a 39-year-old man Monday wanted in the state of Florida for drug trafficking.

Carlos Morales Davila, aka "Cano Navarro" and "Cano Gurabo," was arrested by ICE HSI special agents after the vessel he was traveling from the neighboring island of Vieques to Puerto Rico was intercepted by PRPD marine enforcement units.

Upon inspection by PRPD officers, Morales Davila provided a form of identification that did not match his physical characteristics.

PRPD alerted ICE HSI agents who waited for Morales Davila ashore for a fingerprint check that later identified him as a man wanted in Florida for drug trafficking.

Morales Davila had his initial appearance before Magistrate Judge Camille Rive Tuesday and was transferred to the Guaynabo, Puerto Rico Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting the outcome of his case.

Morales Davila has been linked to a drug trafficking organization in eastern Puerto Rico responsible for the importation of multi-kilograms of cocaine and several homicides.
