Aug. 5, 2011 — National IPR Coordination Center launches new website

The National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Coordination Center has just launched a new standalone website at http://www.iprcenter.gov/. The site includes an overview of the center; news releases; a photo/video gallery; published reports in an easy-to-use document viewer; and an electronic form for the general public, industry and trade associations, law enforcement, and government agencies to report intellectual property rights violations. Aug. 3, 2011 — Man sentenced to life in prison for sexual exploitation of children

On Wednesday, a Michigan man was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the sexual exploitation of several children throughout the country. Steven Demink, 41, of Redford, Mich., was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2010, and he pleaded guilty to the charges in February of this year. Full Story

Aug. 3, 2011 — HSI seizes about 34,500 rounds of ammo for assault rifles

An investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) led to the arrest of a Texas pawn shop manager and five other employees. Their charges included abetting ammunition smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle high-capacity firearms magazines, aiding and abetting high-capacity firearms magazine smuggling, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Aug. 3, 2011 — Indictments unsealed against individuals worldwide involved in child exploitation network

Three indictments and one complaint were unsealed Wednesday, charging 72 individuals with participating in an international criminal network dedicated to sexually abusing children, and producing and disseminating child pornography throughout the world. These charges resulted from an extensive investigation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Full Story

Aug. 1, 2011 — Special Agent named Florida Gang Investigator of the Year

Earlier this week, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Special Agent Michael Fabyanic was named the Gang Investigator of the Year by the Florida Gang Investigators Association. Full Story
