Dec. 11, 2012 – HSBC admits to anti-money laundering and sanctions violations following an HSI El Dorado Task Force investigation

Following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), HSBC, a federally chartered banking corporation headquartered in McLean, Va., have agreed to forfeit $1.26 billion and enter into a deferred prosecution agreement with the Justice Department for HSBC's violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) and the Trading with the Enemy Act (TWEA). Dec. 12, 2012 – HSI, local partners seize $2 million in counterfeit goods from Puerto Rican retailers

Special agents with ICE's HSI, working jointly with officers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, seized more than $2 million in counterfeit merchandise during a two-day operation dubbed Forged Dreams. The operation took place with the assistance of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Puerto Rico Police Department, San Juan Municipal Police, Puerto Rico Department of Treasury and industry representatives. Dec. 14, 2012 – Counterfeit goods shipments targeted as part of Operation Holiday Hoax

Federal authorities at a Los Angeles International Airport express cargo consignment facility interdicted more than a hundred shipments containing suspected counterfeit goods in stepped-up enforcement actions as part of Operation Holiday Hoax, an international effort targeting the importation and distribution of counterfeit and pirated products. Dec. 10, 2012 – HSI seizes $425,000 in counterfeit merchandise from Alabama flea market

ICE's HSI seized 3,500 counterfeit items from 35 vendors at a Bessemer, Ala., flea market worth a total manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $425,000. The seized items included counterfeit designer clothing and sportswear, and pirated CDs/DVDs. Full Story
