June 15, 2012 – Secretary Napolitano announces deferred action process for young people who are low enforcement priorities

Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano announced that effective immediately, certain young people who were brought to the United States as young children, do not present a risk to national security or public safety and meet several key criteria will be considered for relief from removal from the country or from entering into removal proceedings. Those who demonstrate that they meet the criteria will be eligible to receive deferred action for a period of two years, subject to renewal, and will be eligible to apply for work authorization. June 14, 2012 – HSI, CBP nab fugitive wanted for document fraud and identity theft

A 49-year-old Dominican Republic man wanted for document fraud and identity theft was arrested earlier this week at the Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working jointly with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents. June 14, 2012 – Leader of drug trafficking organization sentenced

The leader of a North Carolina drug trafficking organization was sentenced to more than 21 years in prison Tuesday, following an investigation by HSI. Jose Manuel Hernandez-Iturralde, 28, was sentenced by United States District Judge Malcolm J. Howard for his role in a drug trafficking organization that operated in North Carolina from 2000 through 2010. Full Story

June 13, 2012 – ICE deports ex-Indonesian bank executive convicted in multi-million dollar fraud scheme

A former Indonesian bank executive convicted in absentia in that country for her role in a massive fraud scheme that cost that country's government more than $260 million was deported Wednesday and turned over to the Indonesian National Police, capping a three year effort by ICE to investigate the case and gain her removal from the United States. June 12, 2012 – Southwest Texas man sentenced to nearly 13 years for drug trafficking

A Texas resident was sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison Friday for possession with intent to distribute cocaine. This sentence resulted from an investigation conducted by HSI with the assistance of U.S Customs and Border Protection's Border Patrol and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Full Story
