July 12, 2012 – ICE-led IPR Center seizes 70 websites duping consumers into buying counterfeit merchandise

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI)-led National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center (IPR Center) seized 70 websites that were illegally selling counterfeit merchandise. These 70 seized websites are part of Project Copy Cat. They closely mimicked legitimate websites selling authentic merchandise and duped consumers into unknowingly buying counterfeit goods. July 12, 2012 – ICE returns stolen and looted art and antiquities to Peru

ICE returned 14 stolen and looted cultural paintings and artifacts to the government of Peru at a repatriation ceremony at the Embassy of Peru in Washington, D.C. The items were recovered in five separate investigations by HSI special agents in New York, West Virginia, Delaware and Texas. Full Story

July 11, 2012 – 9 charged in alleged $950,000 marijuana distribution and money laundering conspiracy

A federal grand jury indicted nine individuals charged with conspiring to distribute more than 2,200 pounds of marijuana and with conspiring to conduct financial transactions to conceal the source and ownership of the drug distribution proceeds, following an investigation led by HSI along with the Prince George's County Police Department. July 10, 2012 – ICE deports Polish fugitive convicted of racketeering, extortion

A Polish national wanted in his home country for racketeering, extortion and battery was deported and turned over to Polish law enforcement officials Tuesday by ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). He was being sought in Poland to serve a prison sentence for his criminal convictions of racketeering, extortion, fraud, battery and beating causing bodily harm. Full Story

July 10, 2012 – ICE deports man wanted for indecency with a child in UK

A British man, wanted for indecency with a child in his home country, was deported Tuesday and turned over to United Kingdom officials by officers with ERO Houston. He was arrested in the United States July 16, 2010, on two counts of indecency with a child. After serving time in a Texas jail for that crime, he was immediately transferred to ERO custody.
