DRAFT RECORD MAINTENANCE

In the near future you may notice that some of your Draft records in SEVIS have been deleted. SEVIS deletes all Draft student and exchange visitor records that have not been modified for 45 days. To prevent the deletion of Draft records that have remained untouched for 45 days, you should either update or submit these records.

PASSWORD MAINTENANCE

When logging into SEVIS you may find that your current password has expired. If your current password has expired, SEVIS will automatically redirect you to the User Profile - Change Password screen where you should change your password following the directions below:

• Enter a new password in the New password and Confirm new password fields (for help with SEVIS password requirements, see page 6 of the SEVIS User Manual located at http://www.ice.gov/sevis/index.htm).
• Click the Change Password button.
• Click the Ok button on the Change password confirmation screen. You will be redirected to the SEVIS Log in Page.
• Use your SEVIS user name and new password to log into SEVIS.

PASSWORD RESET INSTRUCTIONS (LOCKED ACCOUNT/FORGOT PASSWORD)

When logging into SEVIS you also may find that your SEVIS account is locked. You will be locked-out of your account if you do not log-in to SEVIS for 90 days or longer. If you are locked-out of your SEVIS account or if you have forgotten your password, you can request a password reset by following the directions below:

• Go to the SEVIS Log in Page at https:egov.immigration.gov/sevis.
• Click the Request Password Reset link.
• Enter your SEVIS user name in the User Name field.
• Click the Submit Request button. SEVIS will send an email with instructions on creating a new password.
• Click the OK button on the Request Password Reset screen. You will be redirected to the SEVIS Log in Page.
• Follow the instructions provided in the email from SEVIS (for help with SEVIS password requirements, see page 6 of the SEVIS User Manual located at http://www.ice.gov/sevis/index.htm).

PASSWORD RESET INSTRUCTIONS (VOLUNTARY PASSWORD CHANGE)

In the future, SEVIS will require a password change every 90 days. Although you will be reminded to change your password shortly before the 90-day limit, you may change your password at any time. To change your password, follow the directions below:

• Go to the SEVIS Log in Page at https:egov.immigration.gov/sevis.
• Click the Change Password link.
• Enter your SEVIS user name in the User Name field.
• Enter your current password in the Old password field.
• Enter your new password in the New password and Confirm new password fields (for help with SEVIS password requirements, see page 6 of the SEVIS User Manual located at http://www.ice.gov/sevis/index.htm).
• Click the Change Password button.
• Click the Ok button on the Change password confirmation screen. You will be redirected to the SEVIS Log in Page.
• Use your SEVIS user name and new password to log into SEVIS.
