SEVIS II Developments
From July 24 to 25, 2007, SEVP continued its outreach to the user community by sponsoring a
two-day workshop for stakeholders to review and prioritize SEVIS II functional requirements
previously identified by the SEVIS user community.
SEVP invited a diverse group of stakeholders to the workshop, including university technical
staff, private contractors who provide batch interface programs to users and end-users within the
academic community including those from community colleges, public and private universities and
schools with large and small international student/scholar populations, most of whom were from the
Washington D.C. area.
From August 6 to 8, 2007, SEVP conducted a supplementary SEVIS II Requirements Workshop for the
SEVIS Government and Law Enforcement stakeholders at the Washington Court Hotel. The workshop
focused on the review and prioritization of SEVIS II functional requirements and aided the
SEVP/OCIO Integrated Product Team (IPT) to finalize the functional requirements document, which
was necessary to build the SEVIS business case. The primary objective of the workshop ensured the
development of a system that accurately fulfills the academic and national security needs of the
United States.
One of the goals of the meeting was to find out what the SEVIS Government and Law Enforcement
stakeholders wanted to utilize based on necessities and feasibilities with the current system and
with the future system.
Topics of the meeting included Data Entry, Data Integrity, Data Management, Event Driven Status,
Identification Methods, Interoperability, Lifecycle/Activity History and Security.
