Kevin Castro Garcia, 31, was arrested Oct. 10 and booked into the Davidson County Jail by the Nashville Metro Police Department on criminal homicide charges for the death and burning of a 37-year-old man. On the same day, ERO New Orleans — which covers operations in Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama — placed a detainer on Castro Garcia.

Francisco Javier Alanis, 40, from Weslaco, Texas, was an assistant city manager in Progreso, Texas. He was also a school board president for the Progreso Independent School District at the time of his arrest. A federal grand jury returned the three-count superseding indictment Oct. 3.

Melvin Omar Garcia-Lopez, 39, flew from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, and arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, via chartered aircraft. Upon arrival in Honduras, Garcia was turned over to the proper authorities.

Experts at the University of California, Los Angeles determined the item to be an ancient ceremonial drinking vessel originating in Argentina. A pre-Columbian art expert revealed the artifact was a genuine antiquity and dated it to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old. The piece belongs to the Condorhuasi-Alamito or Aguada cultures in present-day northwest Argentina.
