ERO Washington, D.C. arrested an undocumented noncitizen charged with felony rape by force, threat, or intimidation; abduction by force; and assault on a family member. Deportation officers from ERO Washington, D.C.’s Mobile Criminal Apprehension Team arrested the Honduran national on Oct. 12 in Herndon, Virginia.

Gustavo Ivan Hernandez-Cabral, 24, who had a final order of removal, was turned over to Mexican authorities at the international boundary in downtown El Paso.

Kevin Castro Garcia, 31, was arrested Oct. 10 and booked into the Davidson County Jail by the Nashville Metro Police Department on criminal homicide charges for the death and burning of a 37-year-old man. On the same day, ERO New Orleans — which covers operations in Tennessee, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama — placed a detainer on Castro Garcia.

Francisco Javier Alanis, 40, from Weslaco, Texas, was an assistant city manager in Progreso, Texas. He was also a school board president for the Progreso Independent School District at the time of his arrest. A federal grand jury returned the three-count superseding indictment Oct. 3.

Melvin Omar Garcia-Lopez, 39, flew from Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada, and arrived in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, via chartered aircraft. Upon arrival in Honduras, Garcia was turned over to the proper authorities.

The 32-year-old citizen of Pakistan and permanent resident of Brazil was arrested without incident outside his residence in Queens.

The complaint alleges that, on Oct. 4, Oswaldo Lopez-Escobar, of Mexico, was driving a semi-truck and applied for admission into the United States from Mexico at the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales.

ERO Houston, with assistance from ERO El Salvador and the SAFE Task Force, removed Hilda Mirely Tobias, a 44-year-old unlawfully present Salvadoran fugitive, from the United States on Oct. 13.

Gordon Wesley Roughton II, 42, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge M. Douglas Harpool to 17 years in federal prison without parole on Oct. 12.

ERO New York City arrested Teo Boon Ching Oct. 6. Ching, a 58-year-old citizen of Malaysia, was convicted of conspiracy to commit wildlife trafficking.

Rodrigo Lopez-Penaloza was removed on a flight coordinated by ICE's Air Operations Unit to Mexico. Upon arrival in Mexico, ERO turned him over to local authorities without incident.

More than 1 million rounds of ammunition seized from Iran last year have been transferred to Ukraine following an investigation conducted by HSI Washington, D.C., the DCIS of the Department of Defense’s Office of Inspector General, and the DOJ. HSI Space Coast special agents, fugitive operations officers with ICE's ERO Miami’s Orlando suboffice, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office’s Volusia Bureau of Investigation, Melbourne Police Department Task Force officers, and members of the Florida Highway Patrol arrested Pedro Paulo Barrientos Nunez in Deltona on Oct. 5.

Experts at the University of California, Los Angeles determined the item to be an ancient ceremonial drinking vessel originating in Argentina. A pre-Columbian art expert revealed the artifact was a genuine antiquity and dated it to be between 1,000 and 2,000 years old. The piece belongs to the Condorhuasi-Alamito or Aguada cultures in present-day northwest Argentina.
