ICE on Tuesday began using a federal information sharing capability as part of the Secure Communities program in 10 Alabama counties to help federal immigration officials identify criminal aliens in state prisons and local jails by running their fingerprints against federal immigration databases when they are booked into the system.

With the expansion of the use of biometric information sharing to these five counties, ICE is using this capability in 30 Alabama jurisdictions. Across the country, ICE is using this capability in 1400 jurisdictions in 43 states and territories. Since ICE began using this enhanced information sharing capability in October 2008 through April 30, 2011, ICE has removed more than 77,000 criminal aliens including more than 28,000 level 1 offenders convicted of aggravated felonies like murder, rape and the sexual abuse of children.

A convicted felon from Mexico, Osbaldo Carrillo-Peralta, was sentenced Monday to 2 1/2 years in federal prison for illegally re-entering the United States after having been twice deported. This sentence resulted from an investigation conducted by ICE's Enforcement Removal Operations' (ERO) and Mercer County Sheriff's Office.

Pedro Nel Moreno-Romero, 51, was convicted of aggravated murder in 2013 in Colombia and sentenced to 35 years imprisonment. Moreno-Romero allegedly murdered a friend, then dismembered the body with a machete and later discarded the remains in a plastic bag.

Dorviro Rocha-Ribeiro, 47, a citizen and national of Brazil who was the subject of an Interpol Red Notice for murder, was removed from the United States by officers with ICE's ERO to Brazil via Boston Logan International Airport and Miami International Airport on July 10.

According to Salvadoran authorities, Leandro Cruz aka Jose Arturo Gonzalez Martinez, was involved with the murders of eight, which prompted law enforcement officials there to list him as one El Salvador’s 100 Most Wanted. Cruz, identified as No. 6, is listed as Martinez or “Gasper” on the Salvadoran Los 100 Mas Buscados list.

Shelley M. Richmond Joseph, 51, of Natick, who was appointed as a Massachusetts District Court Judge in November 2017, and Wesley MacGregor, 56, of Watertown, a former Trial Court Officer since 1993, were indicted on one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice and two counts of obstruction of justice – aiding and abetting. MacGregor was also charged with one count of perjury.
