A Charlotte man charged with cocaine trafficking conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy was sentenced Tuesday to 11 years in prison, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Orlando Rosario-Concepcion, 28, of Paterson, New Jersey, is accused of heading the Bronx and Washington Heights-based drug trafficking organization that supplied local dealers in New York City, upstate counties and Long Island. Jonathan Almonte, 27, Rodolofo Abreu-Crisotomo, 31, Jean Carlos Rosario-Ortiz, 28, Deckson Holguin-Rosario, 28 all from New York, New York are accused of overseeing an alleged heroin packaging mill.

According to the first indictment, beginning on January 2007 and ending in or about January 2008, Ricardo Betancourt-Muñoz, José Ramon Parra-Botero, William Garzon, Carlos Maestre-Astacio, Manuel De Jesús Cedeño-Vilorio, Miguel Ángel Builes-Mejías, José Gómez-Cubero, and José I. Valentin-López, conspired and engaged in financial transactions with proceeds generated by drug trafficking activities in order to repatriate drug proceeds in the United States to Colombia, the source country of the narcotics, all for financial gain and profit. The forfeiture allegation involving the laundered drug proceeds in this case is in the amount of more than $877, 0000.

Marco Ortiz-Barajas, 19, Angel Zamudio-Martinez, 54, and Jose Luis Chavez-Morfin, 43, all of whom are from Mexico but resided in the Atlanta metropolitan area, were convicted based upon their June 29 guilty pleas to a charge of conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Raul Beltran Jr., 50, and his son Edward Beltran, 24, both of Rio Grande City, Texas, pleaded guilty Feb. 25 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a controlled substance (more than 1,000 kilograms of marijuana).

Dean Myrie, a Jamaican national, pleaded guilty Tuesday to kidnapping a fellow member of a drug organization who was later murdered. The investigation was conducted by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Baltimore County Police Department Homicide/Missing Persons Unit and the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Senior U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings sentenced Leopoldo Herrera-Gandara, aka “Polo,” 33 of Arch, New Mexico, to 121 months in federal prison. Herrera-Gandara pleaded guilty in August to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Jurors convicted Juan Francisco “Kiko” Trevino Chavez, 38, on one count each of conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy to import marijuana, unlawful distribution of controlled substances (extra-territorial), conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. A south Texas man pleaded guilty Wednesday to conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute more than 100 kilograms of marijuana, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson, Southern District of Texas.
Baltimore, MD

U.S. District Judge George L. Russell III sentenced Narada Walls, age 38, of Salisbury, Maryland, today to 12 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiracy to possess and to distribute fentanyl and fentanyl analogues.  Fentanyl analogues are chemical compounds designed to have effects similar to fentanyl and can be just as deadly.  Judge Russell also ordered that Walls must forfeit anything of value seized during the investigation, including $29,650 in cash.
