A brother and sister from north Texas were each sentenced Tuesday to more than two years in federal prison following their convictions for attempting to smuggle almost 900 rounds of ammunition and 17 firearms magazines into Mexico.

In April 2017, following a four-day trial, Victor Manuel Solorzano, 32, of Dallas, was convicted of the following charges:  one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; two counts of assault of a federal officer; and two counts of using, carrying, brandishing and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.

A federal grand jury returned a superseding indictment Wednesday charging, Steven Neal Greenoe, 37, a U.S. citizen from Raleigh, with the illegal export of firearms from the United States to the United Kingdom.

Jean Claud Mills, 32, was arrested May 16, 2014, on a criminal complaint charging him with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and using and carrying a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Mills subsequently was indicted on those same charges June 11, 2014.

A South Texas resident was sentenced to seven years in federal prison Friday for his role in an illegal firearms straw-purchasing conspiracy. The investigation was conducted jointly by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Ruben Arnoldo Madrid, 21, from Laredo, was sentenced Dec. 14 by U.S. District Judge Diana Saldana to 51 months in prison and three years of supervised release.  On June 2, 2017, Madrid pleaded guilty for his role in smuggling firearms into Mexico.

Juan A. Mexicano, 33, of Addison, Illinois, was sentenced Friday to seven years imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. On Aug. 24, 2018, he pleaded guilty to nine felony counts of unlawfully using a weapon. In December 2018, he was also sentenced in California to more than 11 years in federal prison on a related cocaine trafficking conviction.

Gabriela Gutierrez of Columbus, N.M. was indicted on Friday for allegedly conspiring with her husband and others to purchase firearms in the United States knowing that the weapons were intended to be smuggled into Mexico.The five-count indictment resulted from an investigation led by U.S. ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Acosta is also charged with two substantive counts of smuggling goods from the United States, and Navarro with one substantive count of smuggling goods from the United States.

On April 16, 2019, a federal grand jury indicted Jason Scott Pedro, 37, of Clinton, Oklahoma, for illegally possessing a firearm Feb. 7, 2019, during a traffic stop. In particular, he possessed a lower receiver of an AR-15-style rifle, along with five, loaded high-capacity magazines.

The federal agencies combined efforts to arrest Luis Venancio Cueto-Ruiz, Leonardo Mateo Cueto-Ruiz, and Gilberto Ulloa-Aguirre Dec. 14 in Everett following a probe into their drug trafficking organization, which is believed to be linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. Bail is set at $250,000 each for the three defendants.

Eduardo Ignacio Reyes, 41, from Corpus Christi, Texas, pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking after authorities seized a loaded 9mm handgun and a safe in his bedroom, which contained about 430 grams (15.1 ounces) of cocaine, $2,000 and 9mm ammunition.
