ICE Deputy Director Ragsdale meets with Brazil’s National Police Director

On Monday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Deputy Director Daniel Ragsdale welcomed the Brazilian National Police’s (DPF) director and deputy director to ICE’s headquarters.

This was the first visit for DPF Director Leandro Daiello Coimbra who was accompanied by his Deputy Director Viana Galloro. During the meeting, Deputy Director Ragsdale expressed his appreciation to the DPF for their outstanding bilateral relationship with ICE.

Together, they discussed the joint commitment to continued information-sharing and conducting investigations into child exploitation, financial fraud and human trafficking, among other topics.

Through the collaborative relationship between the United States and Brazil, ICE and the DPF have made important law enforcement strides. In fact, just last week, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston Office, working with Homeland Security Investigations’(HSI) Brasilia Attaché Office, arrested a Brazilian fugitive, who was hiding in Boston, but was wanted in Brazil for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill a Brazilian mayor.

“Criminals know no borders or boundaries in committing crimes,” said Deputy Director Ragsdale. “Because of this, the international law enforcement community has to operate as one. In the end, we’re all after the same goal – public safety and enforcing the rule of law.”
