Feb. 24, 2011 – 22 alleged members of sophisticated, violent fraudulent document ring indicted

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents uncovered a fraudulent document trafficking organization based in Mexico with cells in 19 cities and 11 states. Members of the organization supposedly kidnapped, beat and murdered competitors. Twenty-two individuals were indicted this week for their alleged involvement in the organization. Full Story

Feb. 23, 2011 – Transfer ceremony marks return of antique porcelain to heirs of former German prime minister

The "Nereid Sweetmeat Stand" and several porcelain pieces from the Swan Service collection were placed at the Reichstaedt Castle in Germany for safekeeping during World War II. After the war, the stand and other pieces from the collection went missing. An ICE HSI investigation discovered that the stand was on display at the Toledo Museum of Art. It was returned to the Dresden State Art Collection in a special ceremony on Feb. 23. Full Story

Feb. 23, 2011 – ICE arrests 58 during enforcement surge targeting criminal aliens and fugitives

ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers conducted a four-day targeted enforcement operation near Jackson, Miss. The officers arrested 58 individuals, many of whom had prior criminal convictions for serious or violent crimes, such as sexual contact and battery, assault and possessing and selling dangerous drugs. Feb. 22, 2011 – 12 from Eastern Europe charged with criminal prostitution in central Florida

ICE HSI agents and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigations (MBI), a local Orlando task force, uncovered a commercial prostitution ring. Twelve individuals from Moldova, Russia and Ukraine were federally charged in a 27-count indictment for their involvement in the ring. Full Story

Feb. 22, 2011 – ICE remembers and celebrates the life of Special Agent Jaime Zapata

A memorial service for special agent Jaime Zapata was held in Brownsville, Texas, on Tuesday. ICE Director Morton delivered remarks about Zapata's commitment and service to our country. Full Story
