July 5, 2012 – South Texas father and son arrested, charged with shooting HSI special agent

A father/son pair from Hargill, Texas, was charged with assaulting a federal officer by knowingly using and carrying a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, after shooting a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agent who was conducting surveillance earlier this week. July 5, 2012 – Man convicted of immigration fraud extradited to US from India after fleeing to avoid prison

An Indian citizen who fled the country to avoid spending more than three years in prison for helping ineligible aliens fraudulently file for legal U.S. residency was extradited to the United States and will now face his punishment. July 3, 2012 – Fugitive Mexican cartel member deported following capture in Los Angeles

ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers returned Anel Violeta Noriega Rios, a member of the La Familia Michoacana cartel, to authorities in her native country. Noriega is allegedly one of La Familia's main U.S.-based operators. Full Story

July 3, 2012 – Guinea national sentenced for failing to comply with ERO order of supervision

An active gang member, residing in Germantown, Md., was sentenced earlier this week to one year in federal prison and one year probation for willfully failing to comply with the terms and conditions of his release. Full Story

July 2, 2012 – Ohio man pleads guilty to luring a minor for sexual activity

Following an investigation by HSI, a Columbus, Ohio, man pleaded guilty to one count of coercion for using the Internet to attempt to persuade a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity. If convicted, he faces at least ten years in prison. Full Story
