National Sheriffs' Association expresses support for ICE criminal alien enforcement efforts

The National Sheriffs' Association, a leading national organization dedicated to raising the level of professionalism in the law enforcement field, recently adopted a resolution expressing support for two U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) programs dedicated to criminal alien enforcement.

In a resolution adopted on June 29 during a meeting in Anaheim, Calif., the NSA membership affirmed their support for ICE's Secure Communities and 287(g) programs. The resolution noted, in part, that the programs serve to "effectively and accurately identify and remove criminal aliens from the U.S." while upholding civil rights and civil liberties.
