Important Message for ACICS-accredited Schools: On April 3, 2018, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) temporarily reinstated recognition of the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS) as it conducts a further review of the accrediting body and its continued eligibility for ED recognition. A decision from ED is expected on or before July 30, 2018.

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) will review any impact on a school’s existing SEVP certification on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please read U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos’s full statement.

SEVP will once again begin accepting ACICS as an ED-recognized accrediting body for certification purposes. If you have questions about how this development may impact your certification or nonimmigrant status, please contact the SEVP Response Center.
