Former Virginia Prison Guard Arrested on Child Sexual Abuse Material Charges Following HSI Harrisonburg Investigation

Release Date: February 16, 2024

HARRISONBURG, Va. — A Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Harrisonburg investigation resulted in the arrest of a former Virginia prison guard on federal charges related to his alleged receipt and purchase of child sexual abuse material.

Davey Jonathan Sisk, 29, of Culpeper, was arrested Feb. 15 on a federal criminal complaint charging him with one count of receiving child sexual abuse material. Sisk is a former prison officer who worked at the Coffeewood Correctional Center in Mitchells.

“Mr. Sisk will have his day in court, but he is facing some very serious and disturbing allegations,” said HSI Washington, D.C. Special Agent in Charge Derek W. Gordon. “HSI takes the safety and security of our citizens very seriously, especially that of our children. HSI Washington, D.C. will continue to work tirelessly with our federal, state and local law enforcement partners to investigate and apprehend anyone engaged in such deranged and predatory behavior.”

The HSI investigation revealed that from 2021 through 2022, a now-15-year-old minor living in Texas and another minor engaged in sexual intercourse and then sold videos and images of these sexual encounters on the internet through various internet-based social and messaging applications.

The investigation revealed that Sisk, using the name “JAKESMOOT2021” on an internet messaging app, allegedly paid approximately $465 through an internet-based payment application to the victim in exchange for multiple sexually explicit images and videos.

HSI Washington, D.C.’s Harrisonburg field office is investigating the case, which the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Virginia is prosecuting.

Anyone with information regarding child sex predators or child sexual abuse material is encouraged to call the HSI Tip Line at 877-4-HSI-TIP (877-447-4847). The HSI Tip Line is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
