According to documents filed in the case, on Nov. 14, 2015, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the FBI, along with investigators with the Taylor County (Texas) Sheriff’s Office, received information that Pascual Jamie Avalos, 34, would be transporting an unknown quantity of methamphetamine from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to Abilene, Texas, in a gray 2015 Toyota Avalon.

Juan A. Mexicano, 33, of Addison, Illinois, was sentenced Friday to seven years imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections. On Aug. 24, 2018, he pleaded guilty to nine felony counts of unlawfully using a weapon. In December 2018, he was also sentenced in California to more than 11 years in federal prison on a related cocaine trafficking conviction.

A preliminary investigation determined that Pineda-Morales was living under an assumed name in the area. Authorities confirmed his true identity using biometric information and photos.

Aaron Martinez, 27, of Saranac, N.Y., pleaded guilty on May 10, 2011, to one count of a two count indictment charging him with production of child pornography – he was initially charged on Dec. 15, 2010. On Jan. 12, 2011, a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of production and possession of child pornography. Martinez was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Norman A. Mordue in Albany.

The man, in his late 80s, received information in the fall of 2013, that stated he had won a lottery prize. He was later contacted by a man who told him he owed taxes and other expenses ranging from $5,000 to $80,000 to receive his prize. The fraudsters cheated him out of nearly $150,000 before his son reported the scam to law enforcement.
