Frankie Vasquez, 39, of Carson, was arrested in connection with an indictment that charges him and 50 other members and associates of the Canta Ranas organization, a wide-ranging criminal enterprise which operates primarily in Santa Fe Springs and Whittier under the control of a member of the Mexican Mafia.

On Friday, James Erik Sharron, 40, of Houston, and Steven Tobin Mullen, 45, of Dallas, were sentenced to respective terms of 72 and 156 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Sim Lake. On Nov. 13, Larry Max Bryan, 52, of Houston, and Terry Ross Blake, 56, of Corpus Christi, both high-ranking leaders of the ABT, were sentenced to 300 and 180 months in federal prison, respectively. Jamie Grant Loveall, 38, and Kelly Ray Elley, 37, both of Houston; and Ronald Lee Prince, 44, of Dallas, were also sentenced to respective terms of 390, 270 and 120 months in federal prison.

Thirty-one defendants were charged with conspiring to launder narcotics proceeds for the Sinaloa Cartel in a 311-page criminal complaint filed Monday in U.S. District Court and unsealed Tuesday. The federal defendants arrested Feb. 10 in the Chicago area appeared Tuesday before Magistrate Judge Daniel Martin in U.S. District Court; eight remain in federal custody pending detention hearings scheduled for later this week.

Han Sa Yu, 44, a resident of Maryland who is originally from South Korea, was sentenced today to 210 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for extorting Korean businesses operating in Annandale, Va.

Sylvester Joseph, 26, of Deerfield, Florida, identified as a leader, was sentenced by U.S. District Senior Judge William Caldwell for his role in a car break-in and bank fraud crew that stole more than a million dollars in the five years it was in operation. Testimony presented at previous sentencing proceedings showed that the crew stole millions of dollars from banks using stolen checks and identification. Although they were only caught in 2012, the crew was implicated in committing this scheme for more than five years and victimizing more than 250 people in the course of the fraud scheme, dubbed the "Felony Lane Gang."

According to court records, HSI special agents initiated the investigation while targeting a prolific methamphetamine distribution network headed by Oriental Mafia Crips gang member Soulidao Chounlaboudy, aka “Lazy.” The probe also identified Ruben Contreras-Ramirez, aka “Tjuas,” a member of the Clairemont 13 gang, who is accused of distributing firearms and manufacturing assault-style, semi-automatic weapons.

Aron Alexi Herrera Munguia, 29, from Honduras, was sentenced to 40 years for raping and robbing two women who owned a bar in the Houston, Texas, area. Munguia is the sixth member of Los Tumbadores to be convicted in state court as part of this investigation.

According to his plea agreement and court documents, from 2012 through at least 2014, Navarette-Mejia, known as Violento, was a member of the Normandie clique of MS-13. Navarette-Mejia and MS-13 members committed crimes to further the interests of the gang, including murder, assault, robbery, extortion by threat of violence, obstruction of justice, witness tampering, and witness retaliation.

Julio Cesar Ramirez, who according to court documents is a major figure within the Riverside-based Casa Blanca Vagabundos street gang, was sentenced Monday for distribution of methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of an unregistered firearm, all felonies.

Carlos Garcia-Hernandez, 19, a citizen of Mexico, was turned over to Mexican officials on the Brownsville International Bridge at approximately 1:00 p.m. Monday. Garcia-Hernandez, a member of the "Houstone" street gang in Houston, Texas, was arrested December 11 after ICE received word that Mexican authorities were seeking him.

Yester Ayala, 24, aka “Freeway” or “Daddy Yankee,” of Washington, D.C., was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Jesus Lopez, aka “Worst Ever” 36, from Eagle Pass, pleaded guilty to federal RICO charges Aug. 25. According to court records, on Jan. 22, 2011, Lopez told TMM member and co-defendant Anselmo Flores, 28, from Eagle Pass, to stab and murder Eagle Pass resident Angel Cantu.

Rolan Ivan Hernandez-Fuentes, a.k.a. “Tasmania,” pleaded guilty in April 2019 to conspiracy under the RICO Act. Two of his co-conspirators, Jerson Gutierrez-Ramos, a.k.a. “Sparky,” and Kevin Cruz, a.k.a. “Street Danger,” also pleaded guilty to conspiracy under the anti-racketeering law and were sentenced to 40 years and 21 years imprisonment, respectively.
