Victor Hugo Gonzalez, 36, of Laredo, was sentenced Jan. 22 by visiting U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack to 188 months in federal prison, which is to be immediately followed by five years’ supervised release. Gonzalez pleaded guilty to the charges Aug. 25, 2015.

Angelica Nohemi Reyes-Vasquez, 28, from Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jason K. Pulliam, Western District of Texas to 70 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release. Since she is not a U.S. citizen, she is expected to face deportation proceedings following her incarceration. On Jan. 21, 2020, she pleaded guilty to one count of importation of heroin.

Acting on a tip, BLM rangers discovered the first illegal grow operation Sept. 15 on National System of Public Lands managed by BLM along the Dolores River corridor between Gateway and Naturita, Colorado. They discovered more than 1,200 fully mature marijuana plants, many exceeding six feet tall, along with 211 kilograms (465 pounds) of dried marijuana and a rifle.

Four federal criminal complaints, partially unsealed Feb. 11, charge a total of 50 individuals with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and/or 500 grams or more of cocaine. Thirty-six of those defendants were arrested in the Feb. 10 operation, five were already in custody at various locations on unrelated state charges, and nine have not yet been arrested.

Michael Bentley, 34, Jessica Judge, 35, and Billy Bullitt, 45, were sentenced on Monday to 200 months, 180 months, and 121 months, respectively, in federal prison. Each pleaded guilty this past summer to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

A grand jury in Scranton indicted Wyatt Robert Yanney, 24, for allegedly ordering and obtaining shipments of the synthetic misbranded drugs, commonly referred to as “bath salts” by mail from China in August 2015 for use and distribution in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, and in New York.

Wayne Douglas Burnet, 64, from San Antonio, was sentenced Sept. 22 by U.S. District Judge Sam Sparks who ordered Burnet to serve 37 months imprisonment and three years of supervised release after he completes his prison sentence. Judge Sparks also ordered Brunet to forfeit his 1969 Piper PA-30 Comanche aircraft, $5,400 in U.S. currency, and about $3,000 worth of prepaid cards seized by law enforcement.

ICE's HSI special agents and taskforce officers on BEST executed a federal search warrant late Tuesday night and discovered a tunnel along the U.S. Mexico border, seizing nearly 200 lbs. of methamphetamine, almost two pounds of white heroin, close to three pounds of cocaine, over six and a half pounds of fentanyl, in addition to arresting two individuals and seizing one vehicle.
