Ruben Judas Ruiz-Vazquez, 42, a U.S. permanent resident from Mexico, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Marina Garcia Marmolejo to 70 months in federal prison. As a convicted criminal alien, Ruiz-Vasquez is also expected to face deportation proceedings. He pleaded guilty to the charges Oct. 21.

Carlos Arturo Pati??o Restrepo, who orchestrated multi-ton cocaine shipments to the United States throughout the 1990s, was sentenced today to 40 years in federal prison and ordered to pay a $5 million fine. The sentence is the result of an investigation conducted by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

In conjunction with the arrests, law enforcement executed search warrants at Li’s home and seven marijuana grow houses in Chino, Ontario and Chino Hills. As a result of the searches, authorities seized approximately 1,650 marijuana plants from several grow houses, as well as cash at Li’s house currently estimated to be at least $80,000.

Joseph Edward Conner, 47, of Bay Point, admitted he engaged in three transactions with a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) undercover agent in an effort to distribute the methamphetamine. On Aug. 22, 2014, Conner negotiated the sale of a half-pound of 99 percent pure methamphetamine for $3,000.

Maria Anay Castaneda-Aleman, 32, and Emmanuel Navarro Gallegos, aka "Armando Roberto Espino," 30, were indicted May 14 on charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Castaneda-Aleman was also charged with making available for use a house in San Jose for the purpose of manufacturing, storing and distributing methamphetamine.

Noel Pena, 29, of Rio Grande City, who had been assigned to the Starr County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Task Force, and Hector Salinas-Hinojosa, 21, of Roma, Texas, were sentenced Jan. 21, by U.S. Chief Judge Ricardo Hinojosa. Judge Hinojosa ordered Pena to serve 84 months in federal prison, while Salinas will serve a 60-month term.
