Chicago man sentenced in Indiana to 10 years in prison for conspiring to distribute more than 55 pounds of cocaine
HAMMOND, Ind. — A Chicago man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison Wednesday for conspiring to distribute cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney David Capp, Northern District of Indiana.
This sentence resulted from an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with assistance from the Illinois State Police.
Vincente Osorio, 61, of Chicago, was sentenced April 29 to 120 months in federal prison for conspiring to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine, and attempting to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. Osorio was also sentenced to five years of supervised release after he completes his prison term.
According to documents filed in this case, between February and April 2014, Osorio conspired with others in an attempt to purchase more than 25 kilograms (55 pounds) of cocaine. On April 30, 2014, Osorio and a co-conspirator were arrested in Gary, Indiana, after they traveled from Chicago with $125,000 and attempted to procure 10 kilograms (22 pounds) of cocaine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas M. McGrath, Northern District of Indiana, prosecuted this case.
