DHS, Indonesian National Police sign information-sharing agreement

JAKARTA, Indonesia — U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary of International Affairs Alan Bersin and Indonesian National Police Commissioner General Suhardi Alius signed an information-sharing agreement on behalf of their nations here Wednesday.

Assistant Secretary Bersin signed the document on behalf of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) signifying the U.S. government’s commitment to enhancing and strengthening the bi-lateral fight against transnational crime.

The agreement will afford both nations with better information-sharing capabilities that will assist in combatting transnational crime including drug trafficking, human smuggling and money laundering.

Through ICE's Office of International Operations and the U.S. Department of State, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) has 67 attaché offices in 48 countries around the world. HSI special agents work closely with foreign law enforcement agencies and through a robust network of specialized, vetted units known as Transnational Criminal Investigative Units.
