ERO Los Angeles removes Colombian national guilty of hostage conspiracy resulting in death
LOS ANGELES — Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Los Angeles removed a Colombian national, with ties to the Colombian political party Esperanza, Paz y Libertad who was found guilty of conspiracy to commit hostage taking for ransom resulting in death.
Officials extradited Henrri Jamioy-Quistial, 49, to the United States in October 2002 for participating in the hostage taking of five U.S. citizens in Ecuador. A court convicted him of his crimes in September 2006. Jamioy-Quistial served a sentence in federal prison at the Federal Correction Complex in Victorville. On Jan. 6, ERO officers took him into custody to affect his removal from the United States.
“The professional men and women of ERO Los Angeles are dedicated to holding accountable any person who seeks to profit from the taking and murdering of U.S. citizens abroad,” said ERO Los Angeles Field Office Director Thomas Giles. “We will work aggressively with our federal and international partners to ensure murderers like Mr. Jamioy-Quistial face the consequences of their crimes.”
A flight coordinated by ICE’s Air Operations Unit flew Jamioy-Quistial to Colombia on Feb. 9. Upon arrival, officials turned him over to the proper authorities.
