HSI Detroit employees honored during Public Service Recognition Week

On May 13, seven employees from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations’ (HSI) Detroit field office were among 500 people from 23 different organizations recognized at the Detroit’s Federal Executive Board’s 38th annual Federal Employee Recognition Ceremony.

The ceremony, held in accordance with Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), took place at the Royalty House in Warren, Michigan. Attendees were recognized for their exemplary public service.

"As an agency, we must take advantage of every opportunity to recognize our employees who go above and beyond," said Marlon Miller, HSI Detroit special agent in charge. "Our employees are the very lifeblood of our organization and Federal Employee Recognition Week is one of the many ways we say "thank you" for the important work they do on a daily basis."

In 1985, the Public Employees Roundtable and its member organizations started PSRW to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees. The first full week of May was set aside to recognize employees that go above and beyond in their service through their respective agencies.

“With more than 2 million civilian workers and more than 1 million active duty service members, our Federal workforce represents extraordinary possibility. Public service is a calling which has meant so much to so many. It embodies our sense of shared values and reflects our drive to serve a cause beyond our own – to give back to our Nation, leave our mark, and nudge history forward,” President Barack Obama said in his 2015 PSRW Proclamation.
