ICE removes Honduran national wanted for aggravated rape
PHOENIX – A Honduran national arrested near the Arizona border three months ago, who is wanted in his native country for his role in aggravated rape, was turned over Thursday to Honduran law enforcement officials at San Pedro Sula’s international airport by officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
Jony William Guillen-Alvarado, 27, was repatriated under tight security, escorted by members of ERO’s operations coordination team. Upon arriving in San Pedro Sula, Guillen was transferred to the custody of Honduran law enforcement.
Guillen is charged with an aggravated rape that occurred in September 2014 in Honduras. A warrant issued by Honduran authorities shortly after the crime alleges Guillen sexually assaulted a Honduran girl.
Guillen came into ICE custody following his arrest by U.S. Border Patrol near Sells July 31. He was subsequently ordered removed by an immigration judge.
Since Oct. 1, 2009, ERO has removed more than 1,150 foreign fugitives from the United States who were sought in their native countries for serious crimes, including kidnapping, rape and murder.
