ICE seeks 'most wanted' fugitive, violent gang member believed to be residing in Chicago
CHICAGO — A previously deported Mexican man - who is a documented gang member and convicted felon with a violent criminal history - is on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) list of “Most Wanted” criminal aliens, and is believed to be residing in the Chicago area.
Atanacio Arellano-Gutierrez, 29, a previously deported convicted criminal, remains at large with his last known location in Illinois. Locating and arresting Arellano-Gutierrez is an enforcement priority for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) due to his violent criminal history.
Arellano-Gutierrez's criminal history includes a 2005 felony weapons conviction in Cook County, Illinois, for aggravated discharge of a firearm for which he was sentenced to six years in prison. He also has felony burglary and retail theft convictions out of Kane County, Illinois.
ICE officers placed an immigration detainer on Arellano-Gutierrez while he was incarcerated at the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) Stateville Correctional Facility. He was released from IDOC to ICE custody April 16, 2013, and deported to Mexico May 1, 2013. ICE believes Arellano-Gutierrez illegally re-entered the U.S. and is now residing in the greater Chicago area.
ICE recently added Arellano-Gutierrez to its Most Wanted list and is actively seeking his apprehension.

ERO coordinates the removal of criminals, foreign fugitives and others ordered deported. Last year alone, ERO removed 235,413 individuals from the United States. ICE is focused on smart and effective immigration enforcement that prioritizes its resources based on those who pose the biggest threat to national security, border security and public safety. ICE’s civil enforcement efforts are based on priorities set by the Secretary of Homeland Security in November 2014.
