Pennsylvania man indicted on narcotics trafficking, weapons charges

SCRANTON, Pa. — A Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania man, was indicted April 25, by a federal grand jury on crack cocaine trafficking, cocaine trafficking and firearms charges, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).    

Isaiah Moore-Brown, 28, was charged with conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute more than 28 grams of cocaine base, and with possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine, from Dec. 1, 2012 through Jan. 11, 2017. Moore-Brown is also charged with possessing a firearm (Springfield Arms .45, Ruger LC .380, and Smith and Wesson .9mm) in furtherance of his narcotics trafficking, and with being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition. The indictment also seeks forfeiture of the firearms and ammunition.

The maximum penalty under federal law for the charges is life imprisonment. The charge for conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute more than 28 grams of crack cocaine, and the charge for possessing a firearm in furtherance of narcotics trafficking each carry a 5-year mandatory minimum sentence of imprisonment.

This case was brought as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership (VCRP), a district wide initiative to combat the spread of violent crime in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. VCRP consists of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies whose mission is to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit violent crimes with firearms.
