PRPD promotes 3 ICE employees to the honorific ranks of captain and lieutenant colonel

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Three U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) personnel assigned to the San Juan field office were promoted honorifically to the ranks of captain and lieutenant colonel Tuesday. The ceremony, presided by Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD) Superintendent Jose A. Caldero, took place at PRPD headquarters.

HSI San Juan Assistant Special Agent in Charge Raymond Villanueva was promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel. Special Agent Alek Pacheco and Public Affairs Officer Ivan L. Ortiz-Delgado were both promoted to the rank of captain.

“The distinction that on behalf of the Puerto Rico Police Department I am granting you constitutes a very important recognition for the outstanding work that you provide to the communities you serve,” said Superintendent Caldero. “It should serve as motivation to continue serving our fellow citizens with the same degree of integrity and professionalism. I am sure that your actions will continue to be an example in our partnership in law enforcement, but most importantly to the peoples of Puerto Rico”

With these honorific promotions, Villanueva, Pacheco and Ortiz-Delgado were granted the authority to perform the duties associated to the honorific rank in accordance with the existing Puerto Rico legislation and the right to enjoy the privileges and emoluments as prescribed by law.
