Southeast Texas woman sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine

VICTORIA, Texas — A local Southeast Texas woman was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison following her conviction of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Kenneth Magidson, Southern District of Texas.

This investigation was conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Victoria Police Department (VPD).

Lynn Denise Bilecki, 46, of Victoria, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John D. Rainey to 120 months in prison to be followed by five years of supervised release.  Bilecki pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2014.

On July 15, 2014, officers from VPD’s Special Crimes Unit executed a state narcotics search warrant at Bilecki’s apartment. At that time authorities seized methamphetamine, a digital scale, U.S. currency and a pistol-grip shotgun. Laboratory analysis determined that the amount of pure methamphetamine seized was 129 grams (about 4.5 ounces).

“Anyone contemplating selling dangerous drugs should ask themselves if they are prepared to forfeit their freedom for years to come when caught,” said Brian M. Moskowitz, special agent in charge of HSI in Houston.

“The work of Victoria PD officers and HSI special agents in this case clearly shows that the reward is simply not worth the risk.”

Bilecki has been in federal custody since her arrest July 30, 2014; she will remain in custody pending transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility to be designated in the near future.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lance Watt, Southern District of Texas, is prosecuting this case.
