Acting ICE Director Todd M. Lyons sent a letter responding to Broadview Mayor Katrina R. Thompson's letter sent to ICE’s Chicago field office director Sept. 26. The mayor's letter made outlandish accusations, including of “making war” on the community of Broadview.

The targeted enforcement focused on individuals subject to deportation or with outstanding criminal warrants. The detentions are part of what the state described as a broader push to crack down on illegal immigration and improve public safety in Central Florida.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations arrested criminal alien and fugitive Jesus Luis Cuevas-Pacheco, 47, of Mexico, after receiving information that he was allegedly threatening family members with violence and engaging in the sale of narcotics.

ICE Harlingen’s Laredo office participated in Operation Pick Off in Laredo Sept. 25 and 26, resulting in the arrests of 28 illegal aliens, including 23 with criminal records who face additional criminal charges for illegal entry or reentry into the United States.

The individuals arrested had lawfully entered the United States; however, they violated the terms of their admission by overstaying their visas. In addition, many possess extensive criminal history involving theft and related offenses across multiple states.

The criminal illegal aliens were found guilty of two murders and multiple attempted murders.

ICE San Diego officers arrested four illegal aliens who are convicted child sex predators on Sept. 25. The aliens are citizens of Mexico, Vietnam, the Bahamas, and Cuba, who were taken into ICE custody following convictions for crimes against children, including sexual assault, molestation, and rape.

Using their breaching equipment, officers successfully extracted the driver from the burning car moments before it became fully engulfed in flames.

Today, ICE Des Moines arrested Ian Andre Roberts, a criminal illegal alien from Guyana in possession of a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash and a fixed blade hunting knife.

ICE announced financial awards to 287(g) partners in Florida Sept. 26, highlighting the program’s success, its Florida partnerships and the benefits it provides in the public safety and national security realms.

An investigation by the ICE Office of Professional Responsibility in San Diego led to the arrest of Gregory John Curcio, 68, who is accused of doxxing an ICE attorney by posting her personal information online and urging others to harass her.

ICE Buffalo arrested 35 criminal aliens and immigration offenders during a weeklong operation Sept 14 – 19 focused on enhancing public safety in Central New York.

On Sept. 23, ICE arrested Dimitri Vorbe, an illegal alien and citizen of Haiti, for violating the Immigration and Nationality Act and contributing to the destabilization of Haiti.

A previously convicted felon is facing new federal charges after allegedly engaging in drug trafficking while being on supervised release, following an investigation by ICE Homeland Security Investigations El Paso.

A Mexican national pleaded guilty Sept. 22 to murdering a man and his pregnant wife in Washington state during a drug trafficking dispute, following a yearslong investigation led by ICE Homeland Security Investigations.

ERO New York City provided email notification of Reyes’ death to the Honduran Consulate in New York.

Authorities are searching for Juan Carmen Padron Mendez, 29, and Juan Carlos Padron Barron, 23, both illegal aliens from Mexico, who escaped from custody Sept. 22 in Conroe, Texas, after one of them was able to get out of their restraints and choked a female Border Patrol agent who was transferring them to the Montgomery Processing Center.

ICE Homeland Security Investigations special agents arrested Joseph Cruz-Santiago, a 32-year-old man from Caguas, Puerto Rico, on criminal charges related to child exploitation.

ICE successfully removed Mayama Sesay, 43, to Liberia on Sept. 5. Sesay, infamously known as the rebel commander “Black Diamond,” played a prominent role in recruiting and leading child soldiers during Liberia’s civil wars.

ICE, with assistance from federal law enforcement partners, removed Caleb Aragon Venegas, a 29-year-old illegal alien Sep. 18.

John Stephen Baker, 71, of Tucson, was sentenced Sept. 10 to eight years and six months in prison followed by lifetime supervised release following an ICE Homeland Security Investigations case.

Laye Sekou Camara, 47, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, entered the United States on an immigrant visa and lied on his immigration forms by failing to admit he was involved in Liberia’s civil war.

Edson Jose Contreras-Torrealba, 34, was sentenced on Sept. 16 by a federal judge to serve 120 months in prison.
