From Aug. 23 to Aug. 30, HSI special agents and its CCSF counterparts seized 2,386 kilograms of cocaine and 1,010 kilograms of marijuana which represented one the largest seizures since the creation of the strike force.

Jesus Gerardo Ledezma-Cepeda, aka “Chuy” and “Juan Ramos,” 60, was convicted at trial in May 2016 on one count of interstate stalking and one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire. 

Baltimore, MD

U.S. District Judge George L. Russell III sentenced Narada Walls, age 38, of Salisbury, Maryland, today to 12 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for conspiracy to possess and to distribute fentanyl and fentanyl analogues.  Fentanyl analogues are chemical compounds designed to have effects similar to fentanyl and can be just as deadly.  Judge Russell also ordered that Walls must forfeit anything of value seized during the investigation, including $29,650 in cash.

Gregory George Denny, 47, pleaded guilty in August to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug-trafficking crime.

Twenty people were arrested Wednesday following the two separate federal grand jury indictments charging 22 defendants with crimes related to trafficking methamphetamine and international money laundering. The charges were announced by the U.S. Attorney's Office of the District of Colorado, and OCDETF's Strike Force.
Fargo, ND
Casey Stevens Rosen, 24, of Minneapolis, Minn., was sentenced to serve 20 years in prison for conspiracy to possess and distribute analogue substances resulting in serious bodily injury or death.
Muskogee, OK
Tomas Camargo-Chavez, 39, aka Thomas Camargo, aka Thomas Camargo-Chavez, aka Scarface, of Poteau, Oklahoma, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge James H. Payne to 63 months imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Medford, OR
Marco Antonio Gutierrez, 36, of Grants Pass, received a 14-year federal prison sentence, and his brother, Samuel De La Cruz Gutierrez, 43, also of Grants Pass, was sentenced to 10 years.
Philadelphia, PA
Higinio Castillo, 25, from Philadelphia, was sentenced today for leading Castillo Drug Smuggling Organization (CDSO). Castillo and the members of the CDSO recruited couriers who swallowed packets of heroin inside their bodies in order to smuggle the drugs into the country.

Damien Beverly, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy, two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and one count of conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Wichita Falls, TX

U.S. District Judge Reed C. O’Connor sentenced Juan Leonardo Tello, 50, of Dallas, Texas, to 180 months in federal prison. In May 2017, Judge O’Connor sentenced the following three co-defendants to federal prison sentences for their roles in this methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy: Jackie Eugene Clayton, 38, to 235 months in federal prison; Juan Carlos Lopez, 53, to 100 months in federal prison; and Rudy Roman Ramirez, 45, to 135 months.

Tyler, TX

On Feb. 14, following a three-day jury trial, Conrado Depaz Arellano, 48, illegally residing in Carthage, Texas, was found guilty of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.  Additionally, on Feb. 12, 2018, Arellano pleaded guilty to being illegally in the United States after having been deported.

Sean Libbert, 38, of Newport Coast, and Kyle Kledzik, 26, of Dana Point, were taken into custody by federal agents associated with the Los Angeles HIDTA (High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Southern California Drug Task Force.

Jorge Molina-Sanchez, 35, of Mexico, was convicted by a federal jury in May 2013 of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute at least five kilograms of cocaine and at least one kilogram of heroin, conspiracy to launder proceeds of drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking.

Alan Folweiler, 21, admitted his involvement as part of a group distributing alpha-pvp, a synthetic drug commonly known as bath salts during 2011 through 2013.

Jesus Garcia, 42, pleaded guilty in 2014 to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine base. A total of 19 defendants were charged in the conspiracy; most have been convicted and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 18 months to 20 years in federal prison.

Erika Jimenez, 31, from Deming, New Mexico, must also serve three years of supervised release after she completes her prison sentence.

Lubbock, TX

Senior U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings sentenced Leopoldo Herrera-Gandara, aka “Polo,” 33 of Arch, New Mexico, to 121 months in federal prison. Herrera-Gandara pleaded guilty in August to one count of distribution and possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

Jurors convicted Juan Francisco “Kiko” Trevino Chavez, 38, on one count each of conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy to import marijuana, unlawful distribution of controlled substances (extra-territorial), conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to import cocaine, conspiracy to possess firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Kiko Trevino is the nephew of Los Zetas leaders Miguel Angel Trevino Morales (Z-40) and Oscar Omar Trevino Morales (Z-42).

U.S. ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) seized nearly 13 pounds of methamphetamine Wednesday near Amado, Ariz. An HSI agent, working with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Border Patrol, found the drugs after a suspected drug smuggling vehicle was stopped in Nogales as it traveled north on Interstate 19 toward Tucson.

Dean Myrie, a Jamaican national, pleaded guilty Tuesday to kidnapping a fellow member of a drug organization who was later murdered. The investigation was conducted by ICE's Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Baltimore County Police Department Homicide/Missing Persons Unit and the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Arley Fernando Garces, 34, of Colombia, pleaded guilty on April 14. Garces is the last of three co-defendants to be sentenced in this case. U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew also previously sentenced Santos Cerros-Maldonado to 12 years and four months in prison. Gregorio Campo-Rodriguez was sentenced to seven years and three months in federal prison.
Las Vegas, NV

Joshua Michael Riley, 32, of Henderson, received a 51-month prison term followed by three years’ supervised release; Nicholas Collado, 32, of Houston, Texas, was sentenced to 37 months in prison and three years’ supervised release; and Alexandra Haardt, 28, also of Henderson, was sentenced to three years’ probation with a condition of one year of home confinement. The sentences were imposed by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey.
