ICE names 2 to leadership positions in the Office of Professional Responsibility
WASHINGTON — U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement named Jennifer Fenton as the Associate Director of ICE Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), and Angie M. Salazar as the Deputy Associate Director Dec. 19.
Patrick J. Lechleitner Deputy Director and Senior Official Performing the Duties of the Director of ICE made the announcement.
“With their years of professional experience, excellent leadership skills, and notable credentials, I am confident that together, Ms. Fenton and Ms. Salazar will continue to make a strong and positive impact on the agency and its mission,” said Lechleitner in an announcement to the workforce.
Ms. Fenton most recently served as the Deputy Associate Director of OPR for the past 5 years. In this capacity, she was responsible for providing oversight and direction of OPR’s budget and increasing programmatic transparency. Ms. Fenton joined OPR in 2015 as the Assistant Director of ICE Inspections and was responsible for ensuring that ICE’s immigration detention facilities, certified undercover operations, and other programs were compliant with policies and procedures.
Ms. Fenton began her career in ICE in 2007 in the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, where she served in several capacities, including as the Chief of the Enforcement and Removal Operations Law Division.
Ms. Salazar most recently served as the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) for Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Detroit, where she led all HSI operations in Michigan and Ohio. Prior positions include serving as the Federal Coordinator of Operation Allies Welcome efforts based at Fort McCoy, SAC for HSI Chicago, and the Deputy Special Agent in Charge for HSI Detroit. Ms. Salazar also served as the Interim Director of the DHS Center for Countering Human Trafficking.
Ms. Salazar began her federal law enforcement career in 2003 with HSI in San Ysidro, California.
ICE OPR is responsible for upholding the agency’s professional standards through a multi-disciplinary approach of security, inspections and investigations.
