On Dec. 1, U.S. District Judge Micaela Alvarez sentenced Gabriel Anthony Pena, 26, of Corpus Christi, Texas, to serve to 260 months in federal prison followed by five years of supervised release. In determining the sentence, the court found that Pena’s role was that of an organizer or leader, as he had recruited another person to transport narcotics from the Rio Grande Valley to Corpus Christi.

This enforcement operation was implemented to address unlawfully present noncitizens convicted of sex offenses. Cases amenable to federal criminal prosecution may be presented to the appropriate U.S. attorney’s office. Individuals listed here will remain in ICE custody pending immigration proceedings.

R. Sean Fitzgerald has been selected as the SAC for the HSI Chicago area of operations. A native of Illinois who has also served as HSI Chicago’s deputy SAC, Fitzgerald brings a wealth of international and domestic operations experience to his new position.

Upon notification, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement took swift action to immediately rectify the error.

Ryan Odell Oliver, 40, of Baltimore, received the lengthy prison sentence Monday, after pleading guilty to trafficking three female victims. Upon completion of his sentence, Oliver will be subject to 15 years of supervised release.

ICE's IHSC senior health policy administrator announced the American Academy of Nursing inducting Rear Adm. Aisha K. Mix into the 2022 Class of Fellows, Oct. 29. The announcement was made at the academy’s annual Health Policy Conference in Washington, D.C.

Kody Ryan Kelso, 31, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Stephen R. Bough to 19 years and seven months in federal prison without parole. The court also sentenced Kelso to spend 15 years on supervised release following incarceration.

Deportation officers with ICE's ERO New York Field Office apprehended 12 unlawfully present noncitizens convicted of sex offenses during a nationwide enforcement effort Oct. 22 through Nov. 4. The law enforcement action conducted by ERO resulted in a total of 138 arrests nationally, including some who had already been ordered removed from the United States but failed to depart.

Record checks indicated that Abdiel Dela Garza-Hernandez entered the United States on an unknown date and at an unknown location without inspection from an immigration official.

Officers with ICE's ERO Salt Lake City Field Office removed Alexandru Claudiu Pascu, 24, a citizen of Romania, from the United States.

Rony Roberto Lagos-Corrales, a 35-year-old unlawfully present Honduran national, was flown from Alexandria, Louisiana, to the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Upon arrival, he was turned over to Honduran law enforcement officials.

ICE ERO officers apprehended 15 unlawfully present noncitizens convicted of sex offenses, including those with an executable final order of removal, during a nationwide enforcement effort Oct. 22 through Nov. 4.

ICE's ERO Los Angeles Field Office arrested 21 noncitizen sex offenders from Oct. 22 to Nov. 4 during a national operation targeting unlawfully present individuals who were previously convicted of sex offenses.

Austin Kober, 24, of Grand Island, Nebraska, was sentenced to a term of 228 months’ imprisonment following his conviction for distribution of 50 grams or more of actual methamphetamine following a joint HSI and law enforcement partner investigation.

Robert Williams, 52, of Hastings, Nebraska, was sentenced to a term of 144 months’ imprisonment following his conviction for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

Raymond L. Moreno, 37, of Grand Island, Nebraska, was sentenced to 120 months in prison for one count of distribution of five grams or more of methamphetamine (actual) and 120 months in prison for one count of distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine (actual), following a joint HSI and law enforcement partner investigation.

Noel Hernandez-Molina, aka Cristobal Molina, 40, was arrested by ERO Los Angeles ERO Foreign Fugitive officers, Dec. 22, 2021, pursuant to a targeted enforcement operation in Ontario, California.

Jose Sanchez Macias, a 36-year-old unlawfully present Mexican national, was transported by ICE officers Nov. 10 from the South Texas ICE Processing Center in Pearsall to the Eagle Pass International Bridge II in Eagle Pass, Texas. Sanchez was walked to the international line and turned over to Mexican law enforcement officials without incident.

HSI arrested a former high-ranking Somali army officer accused of multiple human rights violations against Somali civilians during the 1980s. Special agents arrested Yusuf Abdi Ali, aka Tukeh, Nov. 17 in Springfield, Virginia for those human rights abuses, which include extrajudicial killing; torture; cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment; and arbitrary detention.

Mensah-Tohonou’s criminal history includes convictions for theft, robbery with a deadly weapon, drug possession with intent to distribute and second-degree assault. His record also contains numerous other weapons and drug convictions.
